Title: EFCC Applauds Tinubu, Wike Over Academy Acess Road Date Published: 30 June 2025 Description: The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has achieved a major milestone in the development of its permanent Academy at Giri, Abuja, with the completion and official commissioning of a long-awaited access road to the site. The road project, commissioned on Monday, June 30, 2025, was hailed as a strategic enabler that will fast-track the take-off of the New EFCC Academy — envisioned as a Centre of Excellence for financial crime investigation, training, and cybercrime research.Speaking through the Secretary to the Commission, Mohammed Hammajoda, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede extended appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for their decisive support in making the project a reality. “With this road now in place, work will resume fully on the development of the New EFCC Academy,” Olukoyede stated, describing the access road as “critical infrastructure for the Commission’s anti-corruption agenda.”He added that the facility would include a Cybercrime Research Centre and other specialised departments aimed at strengthening institutional capacity in tackling financial crimes.Olukoyede also recalled the challenges faced in accessing the site before the FCT Minister\'s intervention. “We were actually at a loss on how to navigate this challenge until the Honourable Minister of the FCT came to our rescue. He not only promised to construct the road—he delivered it in record time,” he said.Representing President Tinubu at the event, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, described the road as more than a physical link, calling it a “symbol of inclusive governance, national integration, and development equity.”“No community is too small, no area too distant, no citizen too insignificant to benefit from the dividends of democracy,” the President’s message read.In his own remarks, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike reassured stakeholders that Giri District’s development will continue beyond the access road. He disclosed that the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and relevant agencies have been directed to begin work on internal road networks and other essential infrastructure within the district. “With this road now in place, the EFCC can commence full development of its Academy. As that begins, others will also be motivated to develop their own parts of the area,” Wike said. The EFCC Academy project has long been identified as a priority for the Commission, envisioned to become a national hub for building the next generation of anti-corruption officers and tech-driven investigators. With the new access road in place, the countdown to its full-scale development has officially begun.— Gist Reports Attached Images: 3f1be2a841a6723a8a385e987a29dded2fcd7fb58cde48b8b694d3a57b574708.jpg, ee9252903ceec04b40496b97d2fdc86f6a7ca9646d35d2e1bbb94ffe0a7e6856.jpg Attached Video: None
