Title: FAAN Reiterates Mandatory Security Checks for Air Travellers Date Published: 19 August 2025 Description:  The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has reminded passengers and airport users of the need to strictly adhere to mandatory security protocols at all Nigerian airports, as part of measures to safeguard lives and ensure smooth operations. In a statement signed by Mrs. Obiageli B. Orah, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, FAAN emphasized that all persons and luggage must undergo thorough screening at the entrance of terminal buildings. Access to departure halls, the Authority warned, will be restricted to passengers with valid travel documents. At the check-in desks, passengers are required to declare and tag their baggage, while dangerous goods and prohibited items, clearly listed on display boards across terminals, must not be packed in either checked-in or hand luggage.Furthermore, at security screening points, travellers are expected to pass through scanners and comply with routine checks. Passengers are also mandated to remove metallic objects, belts, shoes, and electronic devices when directed by FAAN Aviation Security (AVSEC) officers.FAAN added that at boarding gates, boarding passes and identification cards will be verified, and liquids or gels exceeding 100ml will be confiscated. Physical inspections may also be carried out when deemed necessary by security officers. The Authority appealed for passengers’ cooperation, stressing that compliance with these measures is crucial to ensuring a safe, secure, and seamless travel experience across all Nigerian airports.
