Title: Court Adjourns Manslaughter Case Against Anthony Joshua’s Driver to Jan. 20 Date Published: 02 January 2026 Description: A Sagamu Magistrate Court has adjourned to January 20, 2026, the case against Kayode Adeniyi, the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the fatal crash that claimed the lives of two close associates of former world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua.Adeniyi, aged 47, was arraigned on Friday on charges bordering on manslaughter, reckless driving and related offences, following the accident which occurred along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.Investigations by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reportedly blamed the crash on overspeeding and wrongful overtaking, which led to the Lexus colliding with a stationary truck on the highway.Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the matter was adjourned to allow for further proceedings.“Update: The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that the driver of the Lexus SUV involved in the Anthony Joshua accident case, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode (male), aged 46, was charged to the Sagamu Magistrate Court today, 2nd January, 2026, and the case has been adjourned to 20th January, 2026,” Babaseyi stated.Our source reports that Adeniyi, a long-standing member of Joshua’s Nigerian logistics team, was discharged from a Lagos hospital late on New Year’s Eve and subsequently taken to Abeokuta, Ogun State, where the accident occurred, for arraignment.According to reports, Adeniyi was allegedly driving above the 65mph speed limit on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway when he lost control of the vehicle after a tyre burst while attempting to overtake near the Danco axis.The Lexus SUV, with registration number KRD 850 HN, was conveying Anthony Joshua and two members of his training team, Sina Ghami and Kevin Latif Ayodele, when it rammed into an illegally parked truck laden with soya beans, resulting in the fatal incident.
