Title: Rivers Police Nab Four Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Firearms Date Published: 09 March 2026 Description:  By Amaike Ihuoma OkoronkwoThe Rivers State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its fight against kidnapping and violent crime across the state.In a statement on Monday, March 9, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest of four suspected kidnappers linked to multiple abduction cases in Rivers State.The suspects were apprehended following intelligence-led operations by the Police Anti-Cultism Unit attached to the Emuoha Annex. Officers intercepted them along the Ipo–Ozaha Farm Road at around 5:20 a.m., reportedly as they were planning another kidnapping operation.The arrested suspects include Usman Dan-Mama (20) from Mubi, Adamawa State; Abdullahi Kabir (27) from Damaturu, Yobe State; Idris Ismaila (20) from Taraba State; and Mohammed Dalandi (22) from Yobe State. Police recovered one locally made pistol, one cut-to-size single-barrel gun, and twenty live cartridges during a search.According to the statement, the suspects confessed to several abductions across Igwuruta-Ali, Omagwa, Ozaha, Ipo, and Etche areas. They admitted to the kidnapping of Miss Favour Chika of Igwuruta on February 25, 2026, and her release on March 2, after a ransom of three million naira was paid. They also confessed to abducting Engr. Okoro Osita and his friend along Port Harcourt’s Airport Road on February 12, 2026, as well as Sympathy Agu and Chioma Njoku in Etche on January 31, 2026; all victims were released after ransom payments of three million naira each.The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, PSC, mnips, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged residents to provide timely information to assist law enforcement in tackling crime. Authorities also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other members of the criminal network still at large.
