Title: 2027: APC Rules Out Automatic Tickets for Defectors in Niger Date Published: 18 March 2026 Description: The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has declared that defectors joining the party will not be granted automatic tickets ahead of the 2027 general elections.State chairman, Aminu Bobi, made this known on Tuesday in Minna while receiving Mohammed Ndarani (SAN), a member of the Tinubu/Shettima campaign council in the 2023 elections, who formally notified the party of his intention to contest the Niger South Senatorial seat.Bobi emphasised that while the party remains open to new members, it would not compromise its internal democratic processes by handing out tickets to late entrants. He assured that all aspirants would be given a level playing field, with justice and fairness guiding the conduct of party primaries.According to him, many defectors are joining the APC merely to secure a platform for contesting elections, rather than contributing to the party’s growth.“People are trooping into the APC to seek election, but what we want are individuals who will help build the party. Those with nothing to contribute to its development are not welcome,” he said, adding that the party would remain neutral and not bend rules in favour of any aspirant.Earlier, Ndarani, who arrived at the party secretariat with his supporters, said his visit was to formally inform the leadership of his ambition to represent Niger South in the Senate come 2027.He noted that as a founding member of the APC since 2015, he had remained loyal to the party and now felt compelled to answer calls from his constituents—particularly youths—to seek elective office. The senior advocate said his aspiration was driven by a desire to serve his people and contribute to national development, pledging to remain committed to the party regardless of the outcome of the primaries.Ndarani also commended the state leadership for conducting what he described as peaceful and successful party congresses, which he said reflect the party’s internal stability. As part of his visit, he donated N10 million and 40 bags of rice to support party executives during the Ramadan and Lenten season.
