GOV OTTI PREACHES LOVE, SACRIFICE IN 2025 EASTER MESSAGE TO ABIANS
…Says the New Abia is a Land of Great Opportunities
Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, has called on Christians in the state and beyond to embrace the eternal virtues of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness as exemplified by Jesus Christ in His resurrection.
In his 2025 Easter Message to the people of Abia, titled “Living the Joy of the Resurrection,” Governor Otti said the celebration of Easter is a reminder that \"God does not abandon His own\" and that the light of truth and goodness can never be buried.
He extended warm greetings to Christians across the globe and welcomed all visitors to Abia for the Easter celebrations. “Abia is our home,” the Governor said, adding that there is a new consciousness among the people to think home and contribute to the development of the State.
Governor Otti expressed gratitude to Abians working hard across various sectors, commending their resilience, enterprise and creativity. “Our greatness as a State comes from the brilliance and dedication that inspire your daily endeavours,” he noted.
He also hailed the Christian community in Abia for their impact on society beyond the pulpit — particularly in education, healthcare, and support for the underprivileged. According to him, churches and Christian leaders in the State have become “bearers of light,” whose influence goes beyond religion.
Highlighting his administration’s commitment to social welfare, Governor Otti revealed that the state government budgeted N3.4 billion in the 2025 Appropriation Bill for poverty alleviation and social protection. “Orphans and widows, the chronically ill and the aged... are already benefitting,” he assured.
The Governor announced that the first batch of 5,000 newly recruited teachers will resume duties before the end of April, while another 4,000 will be recruited soon. He also disclosed that a similar process is ongoing in the health sector following a staff audit.
Speaking on the 2025 farming season, Governor Otti reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to boost agriculture, not just for food production, but to create thousands of agro-entrepreneurs. He emphasized that security measures are in place to protect farmers and farmlands across the State.
Encouraging diaspora Abians to invest back home, he said: “This is the best time to invest in Abia. You will not only expand employment channels, but also make lasting impact in your communities.”
Governor Otti concluded his message by urging Abians to reflect on the significance of Christ’s resurrection, reminding them that “greatness is not defined by what we do for ourselves, but what we do for others in love.”
He wished every family in the State a joyful Easter celebration.
