The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Tuesday boldly affirmed before the Federal High Court in Abuja that he personally founded both the IPOB movement and Radio Biafra as platforms to promote the welfare and dignity of the Igbo people.

In a powerful testimony that resonated with conviction, Kanu told the court that the establishment of IPOB and the online radio station was a direct response to the marginalization and historical injustices suffered by his people. “All my broadcasts were public and available to everyone. IPOB is not a secret organization,” he declared firmly, dispelling any suggestion of clandestine operations.

Kanu emphasized that he was the sole voice behind Radio Biafra’s broadcasts, handling all communications himself and without external collaborators. His statement underlined transparency and personal accountability, noting that his intention was never to incite violence but to give a voice to the voiceless.

In a rare show of transparency during the session, the presiding judge ordered the open court playback of a video recording showing Kanu’s interrogation by the Department of State Services (DSS). This move is seen by many as an opportunity for the public to witness firsthand the clarity and consistency of Kanu’s stance.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s calm and articulate presentation in court has sparked renewed attention on the trial, with many observers praising his unwavering commitment to the cause of justice for the Southeast and beyond.
