As IGP Commends Operatives, Urges More Action Against Criminals

The Nigeria Police Force has recorded significant breakthroughs across several states, leading to the rescue of kidnap victims, the arrest of suspected kidnappers and cultists, and the neutralization of three armed bandits.

According to a statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, on Saturday, May 4, 2025, the operations, which were carried out in Benue and Delta States, demonstrate the effectiveness of intelligence-led policing and the dedication of officers to tackle the country\'s growing security challenges.

In Benue State, police operatives acting on credible intelligence stormed a hideout of suspected bandits in the Sankera area on May 3. The criminals, believed to be from Shitile and Ukum, were reportedly planning attacks on security personnel. A fierce gun battle ensued near the Tse-Gondo axis, during which three of the suspects were fatally wounded and later confirmed dead at a medical facility. Recovered at the scene were two locally fabricated firearms and several live cartridges.

Similarly, the Delta State Police Command recorded multiple successes in its ongoing offensive against violent crimes. On April 22, operatives from the CP Special Assignment team apprehended a suspected serial car thief, Henry Okpor. A pump-action rifle and two vehicles suspected to be stolen — a Toyota Highlander (Reg. No. RBC-414-BL) and a Hyundai car (Reg. No. LSD-367-DU) — were recovered during the arrest.

In another operation on April 25, the Delta team arrested two suspected cultists, Mudiaga Okparume and Arinze Humble, allegedly linked to the Vikings confraternity. The suspects were found in possession of two Beretta pistols and five rounds of ammunition.

Perhaps most notably, police responded swiftly to a reported kidnapping incident in Agbarho on April 26.
