Governor Diri stated that the provision of the vehicles was a direct response to persistent requests from security commanders during council meetings, where the need for improved mobility was frequently raised.

“It was a recurring decimal during our security council meetings for security commanders to request for vehicular support. Today, we are gladly able to put this to rest,” the governor said.

The breakdown of the vehicle distribution includes six vehicles for the Nigeria Police—five for operational use and one for the commissioner’s office. The Directorate of State Services (DSS) received four, including one for the state director. The Nigerian Army and Nigerian Navy each received three operational vehicles plus one for their respective commanding officers.

Other agencies that benefited include the Nigerian Air Force, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigerian Correctional Service, and the Nigeria Immigration Service, all of which received two vehicles each.

Governor Diri urged the commanders to redouble their efforts in combating crime and maintaining peace across the state. He also emphasized the importance of proper vehicle maintenance to ensure long-term use and effectiveness.

In a show of appreciation, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sunday Idu, who spoke on behalf of all service commanders, thanked the governor for the timely intervention. He assured the public that the gesture would enhance the agencies\' operational capacity and further deepen law enforcement and governance in Bayelsa.

“This support will significantly accelerate our efforts in crime fighting and reinforce our collective commitment to ensuring safety and order in Bayelsa State,” Idu said.
