Speaking on the theme “The AI-Powered Energy Revolution: Digital Transformation for Africa’s Future,” Mr. Osobu addressed a high-level audience of energy executives, policymakers, and tech innovators. He called for urgent, coordinated efforts between Africa’s public and private sectors to address the continent’s critical energy challenges — particularly the need to bridge the electricity access gap that still affects more than 600 million people across the continent.

“Africa’s youthful population and rich natural resources place us in a prime position to lead the global energy transition,” Osobu said. “But leadership demands more than ambition. It requires coordinated leadership, clear policy direction, and the determination to ensure progress is inclusive and far-reaching.”

Mr. Osobu stressed that energy should be seen as a platform for national advancement, not just a resource to be consumed. He reiterated NLNG’s commitment to long-term investment in people, infrastructure, and partnerships, ensuring energy development translates into tangible improvements in lives and livelihoods.

Highlighting the role of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) in reshaping the energy landscape, he noted that digital tools can significantly enhance efficiency, accessibility, and sustainability in power generation and distribution.

The keynote concluded with a call to action: for Africa to secure its energy future, bold decisions must be made today to build smarter, more inclusive systems that empower all segments of society.

The 2025 edition of AETC brought together key stakeholders under one roof to explore innovative approaches to energy development in Africa — with AI and digital transformation at the heart of discussions.
