Ekiti Chief Judge Orders Release of 25 Inmates from Ado Ekiti Custodial Centre

 In a major move to decongest correctional facilities, the Acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye, has ordered the release of 25 inmates at the Ado Ekiti Custodial Centre. During his June 19 visit, Justice Ogunmoye reviewed 470 cases and granted freedom to nine on bail, 12 unconditionally, and four based on legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Controller of Corrections, Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel, commended the judiciary’s intervention and urged the freed individuals to become responsible citizens. The exercise was witnessed by top judicial and security officials, reinforcing the state’s commitment to justice reform and rehabilitation.
