Kenya’s President William Ruto has congratulated national athletics stars Faith Kipyegon, Beatrice Chebet, and Agnes Jebet for their outstanding performances at the Prefontaine Classic, where history was made on the track.
In a celebratory message, President Ruto lauded Faith Kipyegon for smashing her own world record in the women’s 1500m, calling it a “breathtaking and inspirational run.”
He also saluted Beatrice Chebet, who became the first woman ever to run under 14 minutes in the women’s 5000m, setting a new world record in the process. Ruto described the achievement as historic and game-changing.
President Ruto further praised Agnes Jebet for her strong second-place finish in the 5000m, completing a proud Kenyan sweep in the event.
“These remarkable achievements have once again lifted Kenya’s flag high and filled the nation with pride,” the president stated. “This well-deserved victory reaffirms Kenya’s enduring dominance on the global athletics stage.”
