Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have successfully neutralised 24 Boko Haram/ISWAP insurgents between 4th and 9th July 2025, in a series of coordinated ground and air operations across Borno and Adamawa States.
According to a statement by Nigerian Army HQ, signed by Captain Reuben Kovangiya, Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations at the Theatre Command, the operations were carried out with close air support from the Nigerian Air Force and in collaboration with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters.
The operations, which covered volatile areas including Platari, Komala, Kawuri, Madarari, Leno Kura, Ngoshe, Gava, Pambula, Bula Marwa, and Tangalanga, led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons, logistics materials, and the destruction of terrorist hideouts.
On July 4, troops ambushed insurgents travelling on bicycles from Sambisa Forest to the Timbuktu Triangle, killing three. Additional ambushes the same day in Komala and Kawuri led to the neutralisation of three more terrorists and recovery of motorcycles, pesticides, food items, and other supplies.
In Konduga LGA, on July 5, troops foiled an attempt by insurgents to infiltrate the Madarari IDP camp, eliminating one fighter and recovering ammunition. Another patrol in Leno Kura resulted in the deaths of three terrorists.
Between July 6 and 7, further night ambushes in Ngoshe, Gava, Ashigashiya, and Sabsawa village saw troops eliminate multiple insurgents believed to be logistics couriers. Bicycles, batteries, rubber slippers, and other materials were seized.
A major clearance operation at Bula Marwa on July 8, carried out jointly with CJTF and under air support, saw the destruction of a terrorist enclave and life-supporting structures. One fighter was neutralised, and uniforms and a firearm were recovered.
On July 9, troops conducted joint clearance operations at Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, eliminating three insurgents and seizing six AK-47 rifles, 47 magazines, and 90 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.
In another high-impact operation across Ngailda, Manjim, and Wulle villages, six insurgents were killed during gun battles. Motorcycles and bicycles used by the terrorists were recovered.
Captain Kovangiya praised the efforts of the troops, highlighting the significant collaboration between the military, CJTF, and air support components. He stated that these offensive operations demonstrate the commitment of Operation HADIN KAI to “placing terrorists on the back foot and creating a safer environment for socio-economic activities in the North-East.”
The success of the multi-pronged operations comes at a crucial time, as the military continues to consolidate gains in the fight against insurgency. Residents in the affected areas are being urged to remain vigilant and continue supporting security forces with credible information.
