The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Thursday, July 11.

According to the statement, both suspects were interviewed directly by the Commissioner of Police and his management team upon arrival, after which they were formally handed over to the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

“This is part of our commitment to a fair, thorough, and transparent process,” SP Koko said, adding that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves.

The police also used the opportunity to call on members of the public who may have relevant or useful information about the case to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

“Your cooperation is key. We need the support of well-meaning citizens to ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done,” the statement reads.

This case, which has already stirred significant public interest in Ahoada East and across Rivers State, stems from an incident involving alleged physical assault and misappropriation of resources linked to the embattled Sole Administrator. The gravity of the accusations sparked calls for accountability from civil society and community leaders.

Though details of the incident remain under wraps pending police findings, sources within Ahoada East suggest the issue may be rooted in long-standing political tensions and internal power struggles within the local government setup.
