Daura, the hometown of late former President Muhammadu Buhari, is witnessing a flurry of activity today, Monday, July 14, as preparations intensify ahead of his final rites.
Security has been significantly strengthened across the ancient town, with particular focus on the Emir’s Palace and surrounding areas, as dignitaries, family members, and sympathizers continue to pour in.
Earlier plans had suggested that Buhari’s burial would take place today, but local officials have now confirmed a postponement. The funeral is now scheduled to hold on Tuesday, July 15, at 2 p.m.
Though the reason for the rescheduling has not been officially stated, sources say it is to allow for better coordination of security, protocol arrangements, and the expected arrival of key national and international dignitaries.
