President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday paid a heartfelt condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman and industrialist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano, hailing him as a “titan of integrity, humility, and generosity.”
Alhaji Dantata, 94, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Dubai and was laid to rest in Medina, Saudi Arabia, on July 1. President Tinubu, who was out of the country at the time, had earlier sent a high-powered federal delegation to attend the burial. His visit to Kano fulfilled a personal vow to honour the late philanthropist.
“This is a deeply personal visit for me,” the President said. “He was not just a respected figure; he was part of my family. I came to him for prayers before the 2023 election, and he gave me his blessings.”
Tinubu praised Dantata’s lifelong dedication to service and compassion, adding, “If friendship and goodwill continue into the hereafter, Dantata will be there in the marketplace, feeding the hungry and comforting the sick.”
The President extended his condolences to the Dantata family, the government and people of Kano State, and Nigerians at large, praying, “May Allah, in His infinite mercy, grant him Aljannah Firdaus.”
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, in his remarks, expressed deep appreciation for the President’s visit and his earlier interventions that facilitated a smooth burial process in Saudi Arabia. “We remain grateful for your support and leadership,” he said.
Also speaking, Alhaji Tajudeen Aminu Dantata, the eldest son of the deceased, thanked the President for his unwavering show of solidarity both before and after his father’s passing. “You have honoured our father not only in life but in death,” he said.
Dignitaries on the President’s entourage included Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Ministers Mohammed Badaru, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Mariya Mahmud, Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and other top officials.
Also present were Jigawa State Governor Umar Namadi, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, elder statesman Tanko Yakassai, and businessman Mohammed Indimi.
