Police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed on Saturday, July 19, 2025, that Oladele died in the early hours of Friday, July 18, following an illness. He had reportedly been under medical supervision since his arrest.

Oladele was arrested alongside two others in connection with the abduction and killing of 200-level students, Andrel Okah (History and International Studies) and John Abba (Economics), who had gone missing from campus.

Investigations revealed that Oladele was the landlord of one of the victims. Police say one of the suspects confessed during interrogation that both students were killed and their bodies dumped in separate locations in Ekiti State.

While the decomposing body of Okah has since been recovered and deposited at a morgue, the search continues for Abba’s remains.

Ayanlade urged the public to ignore any misinformation surrounding the incident, assuring that all those involved will be brought to justice.
