A prominent political voice from the Unyeada bloc in Andoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Engr. Israel Fubara, has firmly debunked claims suggesting division within the Unyeada community over the demand for the local government chairmanship position to return to their bloc.

In a strongly worded press statement issued Monday, Fubara condemned what he described as a “misleading and self-serving” declaration by two anonymous groups; Andoni Mass Movement for Good Governance and Unyeada People’s Congress, that claimed a consensus to retain the chairmanship in Asarama bloc.

“There is no division in Unyeada over this call. Our people are united in seeking equity and fairness,” Fubara declared. “The groups making such false claims are artificial creations, peopled by individuals who have long prioritized personal interest over communal justice.”

He dismissed as “blatant lies” the assertion that FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike advised for former chairmen to be re-elected, stating that the respected minister “understands the dangers of decisions that go against equity, justice, and the collective will of the people.”

Fubara noted that while Unyeada has only held the chairmanship for one three-year term, the Asarama bloc has produced chairmen for a cumulative nine years. According to him, the demand is not about political appointments but about restoring balance and fairness in the political rotation arrangement that has existed in Andoni since 1999.

He warned that any further attempt to suppress the legitimate aspirations of Unyeada could destabilize the hard-won peace in the LGA. “Equity sustains peace; injustice fuels resentment,” he said, adding that Unyeada’s peaceful disposition should not be mistaken for weakness.

Calling on political stakeholders — including Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor, SAN; Rt. Hon. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani; Barr. Rufus Godwins; Hon. Ofiks Kagban̈; Governor Siminalayi Fubara; and FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike, Fubara urged them to “align with the voice of reason” and ensure the chairmanship rotates to Unyeada for the sake of fairness and continued unity.

“The Unyeada people will not be intimidated, divided, or silenced. Our call is a constitutional one, rooted in equity. Let peace and fairness reign in Andoni,” he concluded.
