Acting on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, detectives from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched a covert ten-day manhunt, which led to the capture of all the suspects believed to be directly involved in the assassination.

The arrested suspects are:

Prince Samuel (30) – alleged armed operative

Daniel Godwin (25) – getaway driver

Henry Peter (24) – identified as both the arms supplier and the triggerman

Chukwu Nneji (34)

Justice Dimkpa (27)

In a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspects were identified as members of the notorious Deygbam Secret Cult Group, who have been linked to ongoing violent clashes between rival factions — BS and G12 — in Diobu, Port Harcourt.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Deygbam Secret Cult Group,” SP Iringe-Koko disclosed.

“They admitted to their roles in the murder, the withdrawal of funds from the victim’s bank account, and involvement in recent cult-related violence.”

She further revealed that multiple incriminating items were recovered from the gang, including:

Four locally made pistols

Seven rounds of 9mm ammunition

Two live cartridges

One MTN SIM card

A Toyota Camry

A mini bus used in the operation

Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, psc, mnips, praised the swift and strategic response of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, emphasizing the state’s zero-tolerance approach to organized crime and cultism.

“The operational prowess of our operatives underscores the commitment of the Command to the safety and security of all residents,” CP Adepoju said.

“These operations reflect a broader strategy to dismantle criminal networks and ensure public confidence in law enforcement.”
