The Kogi State Government has intensified efforts to attract investment for the exploration of its oil and gas resources. This follows a strategic meeting in Abuja between Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, and the CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), Engr. Gbenga Komolafe.
According to the Governor\'s Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, discussions focused on leveraging the Frontier Basin Exploration Fund and securing technical and financial support for developing Kogi’s hydrocarbon deposits.
Governor Ododo reaffirmed the state’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for investors and emphasized collaboration with federal agencies to ensure inclusive and sustainable resource development. He highlighted steps already taken, including the enactment of the law establishing the Oil Producing Area Development Commission.
Senator Lokpobiri reiterated Kogi’s status as an oil-producing state and pledged federal support to mobilize investment for its oil and gas sector.
Kogi became Nigeria’s first oil-producing state in the North following the federal government’s 2022 confirmation of oil discovery in commercial quantities.
