Tragedy struck in Enugu State on Wednesday when a trailer reportedly belonging to the Dangote Group crushed an entire family at the Four Corner Junction.
Eyewitnesses said the victims, who were travelling in a private vehicle, all died on the spot after their car was flattened by the truck. A video of the wreckage circulating online shows the mangled remains of the vehicle pinned beneath the heavy-duty trailer.
The incident comes just days after Ruth Otabor, sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, died from injuries sustained in a separate accident involving a Dangote truck.
Following Ruth’s death, the Dangote Group disclosed that plans had been made to fly her abroad for medical treatment before she eventually passed away.
The string of accidents has sparked public outrage, with activist VeryDarkMan renewing his campaign against what he described as the reckless driving culture of Dangote truck drivers. He alleged that the driver involved in the earlier Otabor crash had no valid licence.
As of press time, neither the Enugu State Police Command nor the Dangote Group had issued an official statement regarding the latest accident.
