The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that 286,697 applicants have been shortlisted to participate in the next phase of its ongoing recruitment exercise, which will be conducted through an online Computer-Based Test (CBT) between September 14 and 21, 2025.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, PhD, the recruitment drive, which began with a public advertisement on December 27, 2024, attracted a total of 573,523 applications. Out of these, 3,927 vacancies are to be filled across the Superintendent, Inspectorate, and Customs Assistant cadres.
Maiwada explained that the CBT is designed to reflect the Service’s commitment to transparency, accessibility, and fairness. Candidates will be able to take the test at any location with reliable internet access, but only with a laptop or desktop computer equipped with a webcam and full-screen display, as mobile phones will not be supported.
He further noted that the test application is sensitive to noise and movement, warning that excessive body motion, whispering, or switching between windows could result in automatic logout or disqualification. A mandatory pre-test session will be held two days before the actual examination to enable candidates to familiarise themselves with the platform.
Applicants for the Superintendent Cadre (Level 8) are also expected to sit for an additional CBT in the next stage of the recruitment exercise.
The NCS assured the public that the recruitment process is strictly merit-driven and free of charge. Candidates have been urged to rely solely on the Service’s verified official communication channels for updates, as it will not demand payments or use social media platforms for the exercise.
