The Transparency Network has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately release its report on the 2024 Humanitarian Affairs Ministry scandal that forced out former Minister Dr. Betta Edu and saw the suspension of the NSIPA boss, Halima Shehu, alongside other senior officials.

In a statement by its Coordinator, Imman Onyi, the group criticized the EFCC for what it described as “dithering procrastination,” saying that nearly two years after the scandal broke, the absence of a conclusive report has left a damaging cloud of suspicion over civil servants and politicians caught up in the saga.

The group stressed that without formally clearing or indicting those implicated, the prolonged delay undermines confidence in the government’s anti-corruption drive and continues to cast doubt on the integrity of public servants who may have been unfairly linked to the case.
