President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated two distinguished Nigerians, Farouk Gumel and Tobi Amusan, for their outstanding accomplishments that continue to place the country on the world map.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the President lauded Gumel’s appointment as Chairman of Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund Limited, describing it as a testament to his expertise, dedication, and the high regard in which Nigerian professionals are held internationally. He recalled Gumel’s leadership roles, including serving as Vice Chairman for Africa at Tropical General Investment (TGI) Group, noting his contributions to Nigeria’s drive for food sufficiency.
“His leadership in this significant role brings immense pride to our nation, and I am confident he will excel and further cement Nigeria\'s reputation for excellence in global finance,” the President stated.
President Tinubu also praised Tobi Amusan for winning a silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, extolling her relentless drive, resilience, and patriotic spirit.
“Tobi has once again demonstrated that with patriotic fervour, coupled with hard work and determination, any height is surmountable. Her achievement is a source of national pride,” the President said.
The President wished both Gumel and Amusan continued success in their careers and assured them of the government’s unwavering support.
