In their usual manner, Rivers Women Unite for Sim gathered earlier today at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt, for their monthly prayer meeting and thanksgiving service, themed “The Finger of God.” This edition of the thanksgiving was especially significant, as the women expressed gratitude to God for the suspension of the state of emergency in Rivers, the restoration of democracy and the peace the state now enjoys which are answers to the very prayers they had been steadfastly offering.
These women have become a moral force in the state, standing consistently in the gap during and after the political upheavals that shook Rivers state.
At critical moments, they genuinely lifted their voices in prayer not only for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the leadership of Rivers State, but also for the peace and progress of Nigeria as a whole.
Rivers people will not forget their sacrifices. Where others saw conflict, these women chose intercession. Where there was division, they sought unity. And where uncertainty loomed, they called on God to intervene.
Their devotion has not gone unnoticed. Posterity will indeed remember them not just as women of prayer, but as unsung heroes of Rivers State’s journey to peace and stability.
God bless our women and the men who stood by them.
