Director-General of the Commission, Ambassador Joe Keshi, OON, FAIA, said civil society has a key role in accelerating growth but warned that obstacles such as poor funding, weak political will, and ineffective communication have slowed progress.

“The South-South region has great potential, but we must overcome persistent obstacles by working together,” Keshi said.

The Steering Committee will coordinate joint projects, identify more NGOs across BRACED States, and map their areas of specialization.

The Commission said wider stakeholder meetings will follow to refine strategies and create actionable frameworks for long-term growth.
