NDLEA Arrests Brazil Returnees, Businesswoman, Others; Intercepts Multi-Kilo Drug Shipments Across States

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded multiple arrests and seizures in its nationwide crackdown on illicit drugs.

At Lagos airport, two Brazil returnees, Ofoma Sunday and Ukachukwu Frank Ikechukwu, excreted a combined 116 wraps of heroin and cocaine after body scans confirmed ingestion. Ofoma expelled 111 wraps of heroin weighing 1.45kg, while Ukachukwu released five big wraps of cocaine weighing 145g. A third suspect, Nweke Jude Chukwudi, was arrested at a hotel in Amuwo Odofin during a follow-up operation.

In another case, businesswoman Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa was arrested for concealing 1.40kg of methamphetamine in butt pad underwear while attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Doha.

NDLEA operatives also intercepted drug consignments concealed in food items (2.3kg meth bound for Hong Kong) and phone chargers (257g cocaine bound for New Zealand).

Outside Lagos, the Agency seized 233,800 pills of tramadol in Adamawa, recovered over 1.09 tons of cannabis in Zamfara, intercepted 14,000 capsules of tramadol in Yobe, nabbed a suspect with 25.5kg of skunk in Taraba, and destroyed two cannabis farms in Edo covering over 4.5 hectares with an estimated yield of 11,330kg.

Chairman/CEO Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd.) commended the officers for their resilience and stressed that NDLEA will sustain efforts to dismantle drug cartels targeting Nigerian youths.
