The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed as false reports circulating online that armed robbers attacked a bank in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, September 23, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko (ANIPR), the Command described the report as fake news aimed at creating unnecessary panic among residents.

“The Command categorically states that no such incident occurred anywhere in Port Harcourt or Rivers State. This fake news is clearly designed to cause unnecessary panic and fear among residents,” the statement read.

The police assured the public of their safety, noting that officers remain on constant patrol and fully alert. Residents were advised to verify information from official sources before sharing, while warning that those found deliberately spreading false reports would be prosecuted.

The Command further urged the public to rely only on official updates for credible information regarding security in the state.
