Senator Ishaku Abbo has denied the rape allegation circulating on social media, describing it as a calculated attempt to blackmail and tarnish his reputation.
Speaking during a live broadcast, the lawmaker explained that the controversy began on June 29 when his cousin and another lady—who is now the accuser—visited his residence in Yola. According to him, the issue arose after his wife noticed that her gold jewellery was missing, prompting him to question those who had visited.
Abbo alleged that shortly afterward, the lady’s mother accused him of rape and demanded ₦5 million to drop the case. He said that Senator Aisha Binani and the accuser’s father, who is also a senator, had initially advised him to forgive and avoid taking legal action.
The lawmaker claimed that the first medical report indicated that the lady was unharmed, while a subsequent report contradicted the earlier findings—an inconsistency he believes points to a deliberate attempt to frame him.
Describing the case as politically motivated, Senator Abbo maintained his innocence and vowed to seek legal redress to clear his name.
