NDLEA Nabs Businessman Who Excreted 127 Cocaine Wraps

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a 52-year-old businessman, Ejiofor Godwin Emeka, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), Kano, for trafficking 127 wraps of cocaine concealed in his body and private parts.

Emeka, who runs boutiques in Lagos and Onitsha, Anambra State, was intercepted on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, upon arrival from Bangkok, Thailand, via Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 941, following credible intelligence.

A body scan confirmed he had ingested illicit drugs and concealed more in his underwear. NDLEA operatives immediately recovered 58 wraps from his pants and later retrieved another 69 pellets during seven excretions under observation, bringing the total to 127 wraps weighing 1.388 kilograms.

Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives in Lagos intercepted multiple drug consignments at courier companies between Thursday, October 9, and Friday, October 10. The seizures included 1.74kg of methamphetamine hidden in glass ceramics and other shipments containing pentazocine, tramadol injections, and capsules disguised as Vitamin C—all bound for the United Kingdom.

Attempts to smuggle 2.6kg of skunk and 422 grams of tapentadol tablets in black soap to Turkey, 169 grams of cocaine hidden in lady’s handbags to Australia, and 568 grams of cannabis (“Loud”) concealed in herbal containers to the United Arab Emirates were also foiled.

At the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, operatives intercepted 27,510 pills of rohypnol concealed in sachets of alcoholic drinks destined for South Africa. The follow-up operation led to the arrest of the suspected mastermind, 46-year-old Samuel Omoruyi, alias “Yellow,” at Oyingbo Market in Lagos.

In a related operation, an Italy-based businessman, Enehizena Augustine Uyimwen, was apprehended while attempting to export 3,700 tramadol tablets and 2,600 tapentadol pills hidden in food items to Italy. He reportedly confessed to trafficking the drugs for a fee of €945.

Across the states, NDLEA intensified its crackdown on illicit substances.

In Edo, operatives recovered 47kg of cannabis from a suspect’s home in Etsako Central LGA.

In Osun, two suspects were arrested with 635kg of skunk in a Toyota Hiace bus, while two others were caught with 100kg at the same location.

In Rivers, arrests in Port Harcourt led to the seizure of 8.5kg of skunk, and in Katsina, 29.5kg was found in a suspect’s house in Jibia town.

In Niger State, a suspect was caught with 22,000 tramadol capsules, 800 pentazocine ampoules, and 150,000 exol-5 pills, while 312kg of skunk was recovered in Ondo State.

In Kaduna, NDLEA operatives intercepted 150,000 pills of exol-5 being transported from Lagos to Katsina.

 

The Agency also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitization campaign in schools and communities nationwide, reaching institutions in Adamawa, Ebonyi, Enugu, Niger, Kogi, Anambra, Rivers, Kano, Osun, and Katsina States.

NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended the officers involved in the various operations for their diligence and professionalism. He urged them to maintain their resolve in the ongoing national effort to curb drug trafficking and abuse.
