Troops Rescue Three Kidnap Victims, Recover Weapons in Kwara Operations

Troops of 2 Division/Sector 3, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued three kidnapped victims during coordinated operations against bandits in Kwara State. The successful missions took place at different locations within the Babanla Forest on Saturday, 11 October 2025.

Acting on credible intelligence, troops deployed at the Patrol Base, Babanla, swiftly mobilised to a suspected bandit hideout where they rescued Mrs. Oluwabusayo Taiwo, aged 25, and her three-year-old son, Taiwo Irayomide, who were abducted at Oke-Ode on 28 September 2025.

According to a military statement, both victims were immediately given first aid at the patrol base’s sick bay and are in stable condition. They will be reunited with their family members after completing medical checks.

In a separate development, troops on routine patrol along a suspected bandit route also rescued Mr. Mohammed Sani, popularly known as Mai Shayi, a 40-year-old local tea seller from Garkarima. The bandits reportedly fled upon sighting the patrol team, abandoning the victim, who was found injured and lying in a pool of blood.

The troops recovered one dane gun and a cutlass from the scene. Mr. Sani is currently receiving medical attention at the patrol base.

Commending the gallant troops, the Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, lauded their swift response and professionalism. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to the safety and security of citizens, assuring that operations would continue to be intensified to restore peace and stability across Kwara State and its environs.
