Police, Military and Vigilantes Launch Search-and-Rescue Operation for 25 Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls

Security forces have intensified efforts to rescue twenty-five students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

The attack occurred around 4:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, when armed bandits stormed the school, firing sporadically. Police tactical units on ground engaged the attackers in a shootout, but the bandits had already scaled the school fence and escaped with the students. The Vice Principal, Hassan Makuku, was killed during the incident, while another victim, Ali Shehu, sustained gunshot injuries.

Following the attack, additional police tactical teams, military personnel, and vigilantes have been deployed to comb surrounding forests and suspected escape routes in a coordinated search-and-rescue mission.

Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of ongoing security operations.
