A fresh exchange has emerged between former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, following Obasanjo’s appearance at Fayose’s recent birthday celebration.

Obasanjo on Monday confirmed receiving what he described as a “‘thank you’ letter” via SMS from Fayose, in a statement released by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, in Abeokuta.
In the strongly worded message, Fayose expressed appreciation for Obasanjo’s attendance but launched a scathing criticism of the former President, accusing him of making “irresponsible comments” at the event and alleging he was suffering from “heightened dementia.” He also demanded the return of money he claimed Obasanjo publicly admitted receiving.
Obasanjo, in a brief but pointed response, said Fayose’s message “revealed who and what you are, unchanged and unchangeable,” adding that the said money had already been returned through the same intermediary who delivered it originally, “in the same bag… unopened.”
The exchange has sparked renewed public attention on the long-standing tensions between both political figures.
