Nollywood actor and comedian Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has reacted to the life sentence handed to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, urging President Bola Tinubu to consider a political resolution through clemency or a state pardon.

In a statement shared on his Instagram page, Umoh said Kanu’s conviction was “not a surprise” and “very expected,” but stressed that the next step should be national healing rather than prolonged confrontation.

He argued that if “repented terrorists” in northern Nigeria could be pardoned and reintegrated into society — including into security institutions — then a similar gesture could be extended to the detained IPOB leader.

“Mr. President Sir, please balance the scales,” he appealed, adding that President Tinubu could “show more class” than his predecessor by choosing reconciliation. “I know you can. I hope you will,” he wrote.
