Residents of Ebubu in Eleme Local Government Area were thrown into panic after a recently commissioned water tank suddenly gave way, sending a rush of water into nearby homes. The incident, which occurred less than two months after the facility was unveiled by the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP), left several houses flooded and properties damaged.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported.

The Eleme water tank collapse adds to growing concerns, coming barely three weeks after a similar HYPREP water tank failed in Gwara community, Khana LGA.

The repeated structural failures have intensified calls for a thorough investigation into the quality and safety of the projects.
