The Senate has confirmed former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Christopher Musa (Rtd.) as Nigeria’s new Defence Minister, following a thorough screening on national security challenges.

Musa pledged strong collaboration across security agencies, a unified national security database, and an end to ransom payments, insisting criminals must never be negotiated with.

He also vowed to push for improved legal and local government support in the fight against insecurity, assuring Nigerians: “We will win working together as a team.”

Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised Musa’s brilliant performance during the screening before his nomination received unanimous approval.
