Obio/Akpor, Rivers State – The APC chapter in Obio/Akpor Local Government has commended Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State for his bold and strategic decision to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement on Wednesday, Engr. Benjamin Chinwoh, Spokesperson of APC Obio/Akpor, said the governor’s closed-door meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has yielded significant political dividends for the state and the party.
“As the political pendulum swings in our oil-rich state, it is imperative for political leaders to align with key developments nationally and locally. With 2027 approaching, APC is consolidating its position through the Renewed Hope agenda, ensuring the survival and growth of the country,” Chinwoh noted.
The spokesperson highlighted that President Tinubu’s outreach to Governor Fubara reflects the recognition of his leadership qualities, grassroots influence, integrity, and followership, all of which make him a valuable addition to the ruling party.
Chinwoh urged APC’s national and state leadership, including Chief Emeka Beke, to “diligently hand over the mantle of party leadership in Rivers State to Governor Fubara, who has met all requirements for proper defection.”
He further stated that unlike social media defections, which are largely inconsequential under the law, the governor’s proper and formal defection will significantly strengthen APC in Rivers State.
“The migration of the governor to the APC will reset Rivers State politically, as Governor Fubara has consistently enjoyed the support and sympathy of the people,” Chinwoh said, adding that the party appreciates President Tinubu for facilitating the process.
The statement concluded: “We’ve stated the obvious, and that’s the hard truth.”
