…Reaffirm Commitment to Peace and Development
Youth leaders from across Rivers State have unanimously endorsed the Rivers Youths Annual Conference 2025, describing it as a major platform for unity, dialogue, and sustainable development in the state.
The endorsement followed a historic meeting held at the Rivers State Youth House/Secretariat, No. 7 Station Road, Port Harcourt, where clan, ethnic, and community youth leaders converged under the leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Rivers State Chapter, chaired by Amb. Ambrose S. Okpor.
Speaking at the meeting, participants emphasized that the proposed youth conference would provide a strategic forum to address pressing youth-related challenges, including unemployment, lack of empowerment opportunities, inadequate access to practical skills, and perceived neglect by intervention agencies, international oil companies, and other key stakeholders operating within their communities.
The youth leaders noted that the conference would also serve as a bridge between Rivers youths, the Rivers State Government, and other critical stakeholders, with the aim of fostering unity, peace, and constructive engagement across the state.
In their submissions, the leaders collectively called for sustainable peace in Rivers State and appealed to Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, to grant the youth constituency an audience for a strategic interactive session ahead of the conference.
Responding, Amb. Okpor assured the gathering of continued collaboration and purposeful leadership, stressing that the Rivers Youths Annual Conference 2025 would be driven by vision, unity, and dialogue rather than discord. He charged youths to act as ambassadors of peace in their respective communities.
The meeting concluded with a unanimous vote of confidence in the NYCN Rivers State leadership and a closing prayer. The date for the Rivers Youths Annual Conference 2025 is to be announced soon.
