The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to sustaining both kinetic and non-kinetic operations in tackling insecurity across the country.

Shaibu gave the assurance on Thursday in Maradun, Zamfara State, during the inauguration of a 36-classroom Government Day Girls’ Secondary School upgraded by Maj.-Gen. Mamman Galadima under the Army’s Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) project.

He said the dual approach, to be pursued in collaboration with other security agencies and supportive citizens, remains central to efforts to improve the nation’s security architecture.

“The relationship between the people and the Army must be collaborative. The people need the Army, and the Army cannot make the desired impact without the people,” Shaibu said, urging Nigerians to sustain their trust and support for the military.

The Army chief, who was represented at the event by Maj.-Gen. W.B. Idris, Commander, Theatre Command, Joint Task Force North West, Operation PANSAYAN YAMMA, described the project as a recognition of the meritorious and unblemished service of Maj.-Gen. Galadima.

He explained that the Chief of Army Staff Special Intervention CIMIC projects were conceived to support host communities of senior officers who have attained the rank of Major-General through dedication and service to the nation.

Shaibu noted that such projects are executed in consultation with benefiting communities and are designed to complement state government efforts by providing essential infrastructure that improves quality of life.

According to him, the initiatives also serve as a gesture of appreciation to communities for producing some of the Nigerian Army’s finest officers.
