The Federal Government has confirmed that ongoing security cooperation and intelligence collaboration between Nigeria and the United States has resulted in precision air strikes on terrorist targets in parts of the North-West.
In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government said Nigerian authorities remain actively engaged with international partners, including the United States, to tackle the persistent threat of terrorism and violent extremism across the country.
According to the statement signed by the spokesperson of the ministry, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, on Friday, December 26, 2025, the collaboration follows established international practices and bilateral agreements, and includes intelligence sharing, strategic coordination and other forms of support carried out in line with international law and with full respect for Nigeria’s sovereignty.
The government stressed that all counter-terrorism operations are guided by the need to protect civilian lives, preserve national unity and uphold the rights and dignity of all citizens, regardless of religion or ethnicity.
“Terrorist violence in any form, whether directed at Christians, Muslims or other communities, remains an affront to Nigeria’s core values and to international peace and security,” the ministry stated.
The release added that the Federal Government will continue to work closely with its partners through diplomatic and security channels to weaken terrorist networks, disrupt their financing and logistics, and curb cross-border threats, while also strengthening Nigeria’s domestic security institutions and intelligence capacity.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assured that it would sustain engagement with relevant partners and keep the public informed through official channels.
