Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing the need for a clearer political direction to enable effective governance and service delivery.

The resignation is contained in a letter dated December 30, 2025, addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ampang West Ward in Mangu Local Government Area of the state. The letter, personally signed by the governor, was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Jos on Thursday.

In the letter, Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the PDP for providing him the platform to participate in the democratic process and acknowledged the support and solidarity he received from party leaders at all levels.

According to him, the decision to leave the party was taken after careful consideration of “the realities of the moment” and was guided by his commitment to purposeful leadership, clarity of direction, and improved service delivery to the people of Plateau State.

Governor Mutfwang, who was elected in 2023 on the PDP platform, however, did not disclose his next political destination.
