The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has once again reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by N20 per litre.

Findings at several NNPC retail outlets in Abuja on Monday showed that petrol is now selling at N815 per litre, down from the previous price of N835. The adjustment was implemented following internal directives approved by the company on Sunday evening, according to sources within NNPC.

The new price regime was observed at NNPC filling stations located in Wuse Zones 4 and 6, along the Keffi–Abuja Road, and on the Kubwa Expressway.

Despite the latest reduction, NNPC’s pump price remains N79 higher than the N739 per litre currently sold at MRS filling stations across the country. MRS outlets are supplied by the Dangote Refinery, whose operations have continued to influence price reductions in the downstream petroleum sector.

The development comes just weeks after NNPC, on December 19, 2025, cut the petrol price by N80 to N835 per litre. That earlier reduction followed heightened competition in the fuel market after the Dangote Refinery lowered its gantry price to N699 per litre, sparking a wave of price adjustments among fuel marketers.
