Former Secretary to the Government of Rivers State and ex-Minister of Sports, Chief Dr. Tammy Danagogo, has dismissed as false and malicious an online publication alleging his involvement in a purported assassination plot.
In a statement issued on his behalf on Monday, Dr. Danagogo said his attention was drawn to the report linking him with Pastor Tombari Joseph Gbeneol and others in an alleged plan bordering on violence. He categorically denied the claims, describing them as baseless fabrications with no iota of truth.
According to the statement signed his Special Assistant by Barr. Obele Briggs, he has never been involved in any discussion, meeting, or arrangement connected to violence, assassination, or any unlawful activity, stressing that the allegations were deliberately crafted to smear his reputation and mislead the public.
Dr. Danagogo, who described himself as a peace-loving and law-abiding citizen, said he has served Rivers State and Nigeria with integrity and has consistently upheld the rule of law and peaceful coexistence throughout his public and private life.
He urged members of the public to disregard the reports, which he said exist only in the imagination of their promoters. He also clarified that he is not at large, stating that he is currently at his residence and willing to make himself available to the police or any lawful authority for investigation, if invited.
The former SSG reaffirmed his commitment to peace, justice, and the stability of Rivers State, adding that he would not be distracted by attempts to malign his character.
