The Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Lady Valerie Fubara, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Sir Siminalayi Fubara administration to inclusive governance, social responsibility and the welfare of citizens, particularly members of the Armed Forces and their families.
Lady Fubara stated this while hosting the maiden Humanitarian Outreach, Family and Community Day in Rivers State, organised under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. The event formed part of activities marking the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day celebration in the state.
Speaking at the event, Lady Fubara, who is also the founder of the Valerie Simple Life Initiative, described the outreach as a solemn tribute and compassionate gesture aimed at honouring Nigeria’s shared history while strengthening the bond between government and Armed Forces veterans and their families.
She commended the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of members of the Armed Forces, noting that their dedication has continued to preserve Nigeria’s peace, unity and territorial integrity.
According to her, the Rivers State Government remains resolute in supporting Legionnaires and their families through policies and programmes that promote dignity, well-being and sustainable livelihoods.
“Across the length and breadth of our nation, our Armed Forces continue to demonstrate unwavering commitment in safeguarding lives and property, as well as securing critical national assets,” she said.
The event attracted several dignitaries, including the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Prof. Ngozi Nma Ordu; the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Roseline Apawari-Uranta; the Head of the Rivers State Civil Service, Dr (Mrs) Inyingi Brown; and Prof. Roseline Konya, among others.
As part of activities lined up for the day, Lady Fubara led participating women in aerobics sessions to promote physical wellness. The programme also featured games, cultural performances and the presentation of gifts to Armed Forces veterans and widows of fallen heroes.
