The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced that more than two million members have been digitally registered and verified nationwide, barely one week after the commencement of its membership e-registration exercise.

The party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, disclosed this on Monday in Abuja while providing an update on the progress of the exercise.

Basiru spoke to journalists after the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, held a meeting with state coordinators overseeing the e-registration process.

According to him, the turnout recorded so far underscores the importance of the exercise to the party’s growth and sustainability.

“Despite the fact that many states are yet to commence the exercise on a full scale, over two million Nigerians have already been digitally registered, verified and captured with their voter registration numbers,” Basiru said.

He expressed optimism that the number would increase significantly as more states intensify participation, projecting that the party’s digital membership could rise to between eight and nine million by the next assessment scheduled for the following week.

The APC scribe urged party stakeholders at both state and grassroots levels to take the exercise seriously, describing it as the foundation for building a cohesive and organic party structure capable of effectively mobilising support for President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Basiru commended APC governors, state chairmen and other stakeholders for their commitment and the resources deployed so far, adding that challenges encountered in some areas were being addressed through sustained engagement.

He further explained that the e-registration exercise was mandated by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) at its December 2025 meeting.

According to him, the NEC directed that all APC members across the federation must be digitally registered before the end of January 2026.

Basiru noted that the exercise is vital to strengthening the party’s internal organisation and operational efficiency.

“The National Chairman has charged all state coordinators to conduct this exercise diligently and within the stipulated timeline. Data is central to effective management, particularly for a political party that thrives on mobilisation, organisation and consultation,” he said.

He added that the party’s National Working Committee has been empowered to closely monitor the process across states and replace any state coordinator found to be underperforming.
