The Federal High Court and the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, have struck out two criminal cases instituted by the Federal Government against the Senator representing Kogi Central, Senator Natasha H. Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Reacting to the development, the senator said the withdrawal of the cases confirmed her long-held position that the charges were maliciously instigated by individuals who sought to manipulate the system to persecute her.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Akpoti-Uduaghan expressed gratitude to Nigerians, particularly the people of Kogi State and Kogi Central, for standing by her throughout what she described as an unjust ordeal.
According to her, the striking out of the cases has vindicated her innocence and exposed what she called an abuse of legal processes by unnamed actors bent on silencing her through the instrumentality of state power.
The senator also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, saying his commitment to justice and fairness ensured that the truth prevailed, leading to the discontinuance of the cases.
She further acknowledged the support of civil society organisations, senior lawyers, advocacy groups and activists who publicly stood with her, including members of the Womanifesto coalition, the Enough is Enough movement, SERAP and the Nigerian Bar Association.
Akpoti-Uduaghan reserved special appreciation for her family, political associates and members of her party, noting that their encouragement helped her remain steadfast during the legal battle.
She clarified that the notices of discontinuance were filed on December 12, 2025, and stressed that the withdrawal of the cases had no connection with any church sermon or external pressure.
The senator described the court decisions as a victory for justice and the rule of law, reaffirming her commitment to continue serving the people of Kogi Central and Nigeria with renewed strength.
