PANDEMONIUM IN OMOKU AS YOUTH EMBARKED ON JUNGLE JUSTICE TO PRESERVE CULTURAL HERITAGE

Anxiety was heightened across Omoku City the capital of Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State in the early hours of Monday 19th, 2026 following the tragic killing of a young man, Mr. David Nkemjika a final year student of Federal College of Education (T) Omoku.

According to report, the unfortunate incident occurred during a clash involving Barrister Akpudi and a masquerade group within the city. In the course of the confrontation, a gunshot was reportedly fired, which led to the death of Mr. David Nkemjika. A development that sparked a reprisal by zealous concerned community youths who resorted to jungle justice by setting the vehicle and house of the culprit ablaze in retaliation for the life lost.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting was still sketchy as of the time of this report, as the man in the center of the crisis could not be reached to get his side of the story.

In an effort to restore sanity and order the security agencies were stationed at the burnt premises of Barr Akpudi with the intent of preventing actions that could further escalate the already tense situation.

Residents have been urged to remain peaceful as the authorities are working toward providing an official statements as investigations continue.
