The Kaduna State Police Command has dismissed as false reports alleging that over 100 worshippers were kidnapped from a church in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking after a meeting of the State Security Council on Monday, the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Muhammad Rabiu, described the claims as the handiwork of what he termed “conflict entrepreneurs” bent on destabilising Kaduna State and undermining the prevailing peace.

Rabiu challenged those spreading the allegations to provide concrete details, including the names and identities of any supposed victims, insisting that no such incident had been reported or confirmed by security agencies.

“Let anyone who claims this kidnapping occurred come forward with names and particulars of the victims,” the police commissioner said, warning that those found peddling false information would face the full weight of the law.

Corroborating the police position, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Dauda Madaki, said security operatives and government officials visited Kurmin Wali, the community where the alleged incident was said to have occurred, and found no evidence of any attack or abduction.

“We went to the church where the so-called kidnapping allegedly took place, and there was no sign of any attack,” Madaki said.

He added that the village head, Mai Dan Zaria, as well as the youth leader of the area, Bernard Bona, independently confirmed that no such incident occurred in the community.

“So far, no one has been able to produce a single name of any kidnapped person,” Madaki noted, accusing certain individuals of deliberately attempting to incite unrest.

Madaki urged residents to remain calm, go about their lawful activities, and promptly report suspicious movements or rumour peddlers to security agencies.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), said religious leaders had equally investigated the claims and found them to be entirely unfounded.

“They verified the story and confirmed that what was pushed into the public space was completely untrue,” Shuaibu said, reiterating the Kaduna State Government’s zero tolerance for criminality and misinformation.
