The Federal Government has opened the application portal for the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) for admission into Federal Technical Colleges across the country, in line with its policy of providing free technical and vocational education.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the Director of Press and Public Relations of the Federal Ministry of Education, Folasade Boriowo.
According to the statement, the initiative was approved by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, as part of efforts to expand access to quality technical and vocational education nationwide.
Alausa announced that registration for the NCEE would begin on January 26 and end on May 24, while the examination is scheduled to hold nationwide on June 6.
He explained that the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s strategy to equip young Nigerians with practical, employable and industry-relevant skills, thereby enhancing their prospects for self-reliance and productivity.
Prospective candidates were advised to complete their applications through the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) online portal at https://student.nabteb.gov.ng.
The minister stressed that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory for all applicants and remains a key requirement for successful registration.
Reiterating government policy, Alausa said technical education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded upon admission, reflecting the administration’s commitment to human capital development and youth empowerment.
He added that candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 years are eligible to apply, urging parents, guardians and prospective students to adhere strictly to all application guidelines.
Alausa further affirmed that the ministry remains committed to expanding access to free and quality technical education to empower youths, promote economic growth and support sustainable national development.
