The Sagamu Magistrate Court in Ogun State has adjourned the trial of Adeniyi Kayode, the driver linked to the fatal road accident that claimed the lives of two members of professional boxer Anthony Joshua’s team, to February 25, 2026.

Kayode, 46, is standing trial over the crash that occurred on December 29, 2025, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, which resulted in the deaths of Anthony Joshua’s personal trainer, Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami.

The matter, which came up for hearing on Monday, was postponed to allow for the duplication of the case file and its transmission to the office of the Ogun State Attorney General for legal advice, as directed by the court.

Prosecutors allege that the accident was caused by excessive speed and wrongful overtaking, leading to the fatal outcome.

Kayode is facing four counts, including dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a valid national driver’s licence.

The defendant had earlier been granted bail in the sum of ₦5 million, with two sureties, pending the continuation of trial.

The court is expected to resume proceedings on February 25, 2026, after the Attorney General’s advice has been received.
